    Perfect Abu Baniaz, your solution worked!

    On the virtual keypad, below the number "7" is a "menu" button and I navigated menu/setup/Audio & Video/Settings/Mode and dropped the resolution down to 720p and that did the trick. All up and running on my parents elderly TV.

    Thanks again for your really helpful advice and solution. I do appreciate it.
