No, it won't. He wants to be able to run box A with the MAC from box B. That means that any and every time he wishes to do this he has to:

    • switch off B and ensure it stays off (no waking up for any recording)
    • start up A
    • login to A and edit the MAC-setting file
    • reboot A
    • use A
    • when finished using A, login to A and edit the MAC-setting file back to its own seeing
    • switch off or reboot A

Shouldn't need to set it every time.

Try something like this in telnet when logged into the box:

    Code:
ifconfig eth0 down && ifconfig eth0 hw ether 00:01:02:03:04:05 up
Replace 00:01:02:03:04:05 with the MAC address you want.
If it works, find the startup script to put it in.

Which would then leave him with two systems with the same MAC address when they are both on at the same time.
Which, assuming they are on the same network, isn't going to work.

    So back to original question..
Is it possible to change or spoof the Mac on box 2?
    Cheers
