    SF4008 FTP issue

    Hi all

I've hit a snag with my spanking new Octogon SF4008 which has literally nearly caused me a mental breakdown ! .... The box won't allow me to FTP into it using every FTP client you can imagine on both Windows and 2 flavours of Linux ??

I can happily Putty into it (which to me implies SSH is working) and I can type //192.168.1.97 into a windows explorer box which let's me access root filesystem etc so I'm happy that it's using and appearing on my home network I just can't FTP to it

    Any ideas please ?

192.168.1.97 for login, root for the user name and 22 for the protocol. HOWEVER you've literally just jumped in as I was about to post an update ! Lol (really do appreciate you trying to help though !)

In case anyone else ever gets this do the below :

Step 1 - Putty connect into your box (full guides on internet how to use Putty)
Step 2 - (assuming you've successfully logged in with password etc) type "opkg update"
Step 3 - sit back while your box updates it's repos (I think its a bit like sudo apt-get update on Debian , only for VIX boxes ?)
    Step 4 - type "opkg install openssh-sftp-server"
Step 5 - sit back and let it install
    Step 6 - type "reboot"

Give your box a minute to reboot and voila! You can FTP to your hearts content

FTP uses 20 and 21, one for commands and the other for data. So 21 to get to a box, and 20 to receive the data back.

If you've had to install openssh-sftp-server you are using SFTP, not FTP (totally different protocol).

OCTAGON SF8004 - Backup Image Problem

I backup the image in the receiver under the Vix menu setting.
Using VUCC by Lee H / FileZilla I transfer the zipped file from imagebackups to my computer.
The Zipped file I cannot extract. This has happened recently.
    My Image backups of:-
    openvix-sf4008-release-5.0.007 I can extract
    openvix-sf4008-release-5.0.0011 and now 13 - I CANNOT EXTRACT

Whats changed and whats the solution please.

I have a Vu+Solo2 and these files unzip fine from the latest Openvix firmware updates.

Background, I need these to update New Receivers via a USB stick.

    1) You should start your own thread!
    2) How do you try to unzip (which tool/system) and what message do you see????
There has been no change to ImageManager backup during this time

Sorry I may have hijacked this thread but it may be related to original posting.
Found a solution to my problem I posted here above.
I downloaded a free version of winutilities and did a windows registry with a scan plus other scans and now everything extracts.
