It was but the HD51 can do VP as well as HEVC IIRC VP is needed for youtube, it's also slightly cheaper but no third tuner or built in FBC.

    Value wise S4K is better.

Or the GB Quad UHD, due in May.
Solo 4k was too early set in the market, never fully matured, and is now outdated.

Still a good box though, now a lot of things have been ironed out. Admittedly the 24Hz issue is still present, but the FBC tuners are absolutely fab!

If you want FBC and Kodi now, buy a Solo4K. If you can wait or don't need FBC then the HD51 is due FBC tuners next year and great value now, the Ultimo4k/Uno4K are due with FBC in a few months and the Gigablue 4K looks really great on paper. In 6 months time we'll have a whole new generation of hardware on the market and things will be very different, until then the Solo4K is a great box with a few issues, the HD51 is a great box with a lot of promise, neither are the definitive box of the generation.

The Solo4k lacks codec support (as does every other box except the HD51) for VP9, VP10 is coming soon, it's licence is open and therefore free but HVEC (paid licence) is the standard that everyone is clinging onto, VP10 may change that. The Solo4K is a box that will be due a hardware refresh sooner rather than later, or they may just ride it out as long as possible with the Uno/Ultimo versions.
Sponsors have confirmed Mut@nt are not doing FBC!

It turned out that there were serious issues with the SoC GB was using for the UHD Quad; it takes some time for BCM to correct the errors, so GB postponed the UHD to may. Box will have FBC tuners (optional).

AFAIK the Mutant HD52 will also support FBC-tuners.

Stef at WoS says the Mut@nt have no plans for FBC tuners.

I've spoken with Stef and he's confirmed what I've quoted. Also Mut@nt never promised FBC tuners. I'm sure he will confirm this also.
