Just a long shot - where are you saving the EPG files, they should be on a USB or Hard Drive.
I'm saving the EPG to HDD.
Have you tried deleting the EPG data?
No, you can access hhd via filezilla and navigate to hhd directory. Look for a file called epg.dat and delete it.

Once deleted. Just download the epg data again

That is a not a good idea. EPG data is loaded at startup and kept in RAM. Deleting the file wont achieve anything as the old data (held in RAM) will be re-written back at shut down/restart. Only worth doing it this way if the Enigma2 has been stopped with init 4 command.
Way of doing it is as follows:
Menu > Setup > System > EPG > Load/Save/Delete > Delete

So abu if I do it your way it will delete EPG.dat permanently?
I am kinda confused what steps to take.
I presume after deleting EPG.dat you would want me to setup cross EPG and EPG refresh plugin?
Follow abu's way.

I asked to delete just in case database was corrupt. If you have set it up correctly, there is no need to set up again. You just need to download. For satellite, blue button, cross epg downloader. For cable, zap to pvr-epg chanenl (or any other on same transponder) for two minutes.
If it does not download, you have set it up incorrectly.
i prefare using micro usb for my epg as less stress on the hd.
