Just wanted to "pitch-in" without a question and say what an excellent and innovative addition to ViX. I know a number of you collaborated to bring this feature to your user group - it is really a great "new" feature.
I am using VUSolo2 in client mode from OSMega, and I get the SaorView (DVB T2) channels as well. I am also using the Rossi Confluence skin which has been updated to contain the "Client Mode" feature in the tuner menu.
!!!THANKS!!!

I use this between my Duo2 and Solo2 on my local network and it works great.
Question:
Anbody tried client mode over the internet?
I have an Octagon SF8 that I tried to use as a client with an ultimo as the server but it didn't work. I could select the channel but either the picture broke up badly or it just gave a blank screen.
Is the ultimo powerful enough to be the server in this case or could it be down to the network which is being run over the electric mains ?
Thanks.

I had intermittent problems with the picture but they were solved by improving my home plugs. I invested in a pair of TP-Link 2000s and it's been 100% since.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have another look at the network side of things.

Provided there is a free tuner, yes. Otherwise limited to same frequency.
Tried this today and it works very well.
Is there anyway the client receiver can watch recording stored on server receiver?

happy days now got it working on my vu zero thanks to team vix
Okay, here's a question...
Would there be ever be a chance of the client mode working 2 ways?
I have a weird setup where I've a sat feed on the back of the house and a cable feed on the front. We are only in 6 months or so and internal/external cabling seems to be off limits with my wife.
The sat feed is for freesat to get the Scottish BBC's & STV etc as my wife is from Scotland (living in Dublin) using a vu+ solo2. The cable is virgin but I was thinking of getting a cable FBC tuner box with the hope of getting both sat & cable in both boxes via client mode.
This too much to ask for or would it be possible in the future? I'm sure I could activate either way via some menus but it would be great if it just worked all the time
Also are there any tunerless boxes that can be used as client only? I'm sure these could be made quite cheap if no tuners are needed.
Thanks
Client mode = receiver with no/disabled tuners
Use fallback tuners or RSCS instead. That way the receivers can share tuners for streaming. You cannot use ABM/CrossEPG unless you have the actual tuner.
