oine of the innovation competition winners for DMM before xmas was an enigma2 python plugin, that put iPlayer on a dreambox, and as it was one of the 3 winners, the code will be implemented into the official DMM firmware
then its just a matter of extracting it and porting it to other images / receivers

I really think that Video on Demand is really the missing link for Enigma2.
Dream multimedia don't have the rights to BBC iPlayer as in they haven't paid BBC a penny for it. Someone has coded it up, but haven't released it. Vaporware as they say in the business.
There is a BBC iPlayer for XBMC wrote in python. If nobody in this community is able to convert the python code for xbmc to python code for enigma2, would people be willing to pay for it? As in pay someone a certain amount of money say £300 to release an open source version of BBC iPlayer?

There was a link posted to one of these work listings where some one had asked for a coder to do exactly this and it had been accepted, as yet nothing.
Am sure if you were to take this forward people would be interested in it as catchup service is an important missing link.

I think the underlying problem is that the BBC-player is for only a very small fraction of the E2-market.
The real solution would be for the BBC not to use an own application/format, but to adapt the European standard HbbTV: that works perfect on many STB's. More and more countries are adapting this standard (after all: that's why it is a standard).
