    ET9000 Blind Scan

Blind scan has been briefly mentioned in other threads but it is such an interesting subject for feed hunters it would be nice to get some grouped information on the ET9000 and also the ET5000. Can someone do a test of a known satellite and time it? Do a full blind scan from 10.7GHz through to 12.75GHz, and symbol rates 1000 through to 30,000. Also post the number of TV, radio & data channels found on that satellite.

Also anyone who owns one of these and a Vu+ can they rate the tuner of the ET compared to the Vu+.

    Thanks, and any comments welcome.

I'll give this a test, but tbh the settings confuse me lol. I'll post a screenshot so peeps can advise the settings.

Here's the screenshot that I posted in the et5000 thread (as that was done on my et9000). As Sic says, the settings aren't the easiest, lol...

Ok, it looks like the frequency settings are IF. I'll come up with some numbers for that.

What are the options in "polarity" and "scan band"?

To be honest it looks like half arse blind scan support ie the box does not have the hardware to support true blind scan and is relying on a software solution.

No, the ET9000 has a hardware blind scan tuner. What was missing was the driver to control it.

    Hi

The Tuners are very very good,
I made a test with my DM8000 and my ET9000
I find more channels in the low frequency range and generally more stations,
I think these are the best tuner in the E2-Area

Ok, here are some settings to try just to try to figure out if we are on the right track. I'm trying to work out if those frequencies are IF or real. The spaces are just to make the numbers more readable, so when you transfer them to the box don't leave any spaces. You might have to left pad those numbers with zeros.

    Code:
    Start freq: 950 000 000
    Stop freq: 1950 000 000

    Polarity: vertical

    Scan band: low

    Low SR: 1 000 000
    High SR: 30 000 000

Satellite: use 28ºE would be good because it is a satellite most people have access to.

    Hi

Most people have access to 19.2 E, but for the English-People is of course important 28 E (Sky-UK),
I will test it, when I have a bit more time.

Whatever settings you use take a screenshot and post it, along with a list of a few of the channels you find, and the time taken.

Did a quick scan earlier using the settings u posted. Got 190 channels I think it said. Can't remember name of channels or how long, but didn't feel too long ... about 2 mins or so...

Will try again later and post screenies, time it, etc...
