Hi Folks, I dont know whether any of you can help me or not. I have been trying unsuccessfully for the past few weeks installing a WD 2TB Hard Drive in a VU + Duo. It has initialised perfectly but when it comes to recording it creates an error and trys to restart the duo. It then freezes. When I turn the VU + Duo back on it seems to have done the recording and can replay it. I have some information that the 2 TB drives are not compatible with some of the duos, Is this my issue??

    Sky HD 500gb

I currently have a Western Digital (WD10ezrx) installed which has given me problems. I do not know if it is faulty drive or compatibilty issues.

If I remove hard drive from my Sky HD box and install directly in VU Duo, then intialise using the latest Vix image, would this work? Are there any issue with hard drives from Sky HD Boxes?

Also, I am planning to flash my box, is it best to flash before installling new the hard drive or with old hard drive in?

Nope no problems with the HD from sly box, have three installed from the fat and slim box but if you have the slim smaller box its a bastard to take out and your better of reading the tutorial on the net twice as literally have to dismantle the box.

Thanks. I have slim box (amstrad drx 890). Will read tutorials as suggested. A few questions:

    1. Do i need to format drive first on PC or can I put staright into the duo then intialise on the latest Vix image?

    2. Also, I as am planning to reflash my box, should i do the reflash after installing the sky hard drive?

I'd stick the HDD in the box & initalise it after installing the image.
I have 2 SKY box hdds in use without any issues.
