Hi everyone.
I just bought myself a Duo and have spent the last couple of days setting it up and getting to grips with it.
I set the box up with the default image it came with and then installed a brand new Samsung HD204UI 2Tb HDD. I used the Initialization utility from within the default image. All seemed well, so I reflashed with Blackhole 1.6 as I want to use this receiver with my Sky subscription.
Once I had reflashed with the Blackhole image, I tried a recording but receive the message "No HDD found or HDD not initialized". If I re-initialize the HDD from within Blackhole, all is well again until I reboot - and then I receive the same message again.
I wondered if this was a problem with Blackhole, so I started from scratch with the default image and this is displaying the same kind of behaviour after each reboot.
I followed the guide on here in the stickies and it made no mention of formatting the drive before initialization. But I have read other posts that say you must format first before initialization.
Could this be where I am going wrong? What does the initialization process actually do and is it really a different process to formatting? If I do need to format, how do I do this from within the original image? I have found a format option in the blackhole settings (blue button x 2) but the drive only appears there after a reboot (ie in an uninitialized state) and if I try to format it here, Blackhole tells me to go and do this from the main menu (where there is no format option!). Once the drive is initialized, it disappears from Blackhole Settings.
Edit - forgot to mention that the file system check utility always fails, whether the HDD is working or not.
Any advice much appreciated.
Mark
