FEED ALERT: Eutelsat announces Royal Wedding feed sats

Eutelsat's Atlantic Birds 1, 2, and 3, as well as W3A, will carry international news traffic from tomorrow's British Royal Wedding.

The four satellites at 12.5W (AB1), 8W (AB2), 5W (AB3) and 7E (W3A) are expected to carry 13,000MHz hours of traffic, the equivalent of 15 transponders working solidly for a day.

Live images and commentary are being fed via Eutelsat from 48 specially-built studios and 140 outside broadcast vans, from Westminster Abbey to outside a bungalow belonging to the grandmother of an old school pal of Kate Middleton.

Users of the capacity include the EBU, APTN, Arqiva, ENEX, Globecast and Telenor Satellite Broadcasting.

'This latest media event of global interest is the largest of the year so far to draw on our occasional-use resources and further underscores the involvement of Eutelsat's satellites in the complete broadcasting chain,' said Andrew Wallace, Eutelsat's chief commercial officer.

'In addition to delivering over 3,700 channels to more than 200 million satellite and cable homes across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Eutelsat's satellites are mobilised on a daily basis for direct video contribution of sports events, concerts, political summits and breaking news to television studios around the world.'
All PM,s asking about c/s on cable will be ignored and reported to forum staff!
