    Stop Symbol flickering on scrren

I have an intermittent problem with my SF8008. It's loaded with OpenVix image 6.2.007.

For quite some time a black and white stop symbol (circle inside a square with diagonal stripe) that flickers at random rates on the top right corner of my screen. So this goes back to a few versions of the Open Vix image.

Has anyone experienced this and what is the solution?

    Much appreciate any help.

Have you got a sticking button on the remote?

I removed the batteries on the remote and put it in another room. But the symbol is still flickering.

I'm no expert but I only seem to get the error icon when I have finger trouble with the remote.
Have you tried covering the remote receiver on the front of the box to see if it may be interference.

That is the key-not-assigned icon. It appears when pressing a key that has no current function.

Have you been hacked and someone is attempting to control your box over the Net?
Have you got another remote in the room for other equipment?
Have you also got the web interface open which can also control your box?

Thanks so much for your suggestions.
I opened up the remote to find a sticky substance between the pcb and the silicone button keypad.
Then I used a alcohol wipe to clean it all up. A quick airdry, put it together and it's all working much better than I can remember.
Thanks for identifying the likely cause.
    Cheers.
