Keying in channel numbers in the remote

Is there a setting to change behaviour when keying in a channel number on the remote so that if I key in a non existent channel number the box doesn't just go to the first channel?
I'd like it to stay on the same channel, or maybe to go to the nearest channel to the number I keyed in.

The trouble is I'm not sure if I'm making a suggestion for an improvement or if I just haven't figured out how to configure OpenVIX so this works as I want.

When you key the number in, it should bring the channel name up under the number.
If it doesn't, there is a zap delay which gives you chance to press the back button to cancel.

However it still seems wrong that it can just zap me to 101.

I notice that, at least how I have it set up, it's even more bizarre:
I can key 555 (which doesn't exist) and after timeout will be zapped to 101.
But I can key 5555 (which also doesn't exist) and I get to stay tuned to the current channel.

It seems I can key 0 to get back from being zapped to 101 though.

ViX differs from ATV in that it gives a delay to give you chance to press back if you make a mistake keying in the channel number.
You can press the channel number and OK to go to it without the delay.
0 is the panic button. It zaps to the first channel if enabled or if it not, it will toggle between the last 2 watched channels.
It may depend on how many digits the channel number is set to in settings if you key in a 4 digit number.

I know this. Except I'm not interested in what ATV (whatever that is) does.

It's still totally bizarre that anyone would think that when I key in a non existent channel number it should sometime be taken to mean go to 101 (daft) and sometime be ignored (sensible)

I like the panic button feature. When BBC put up the red screen with dogs barking at 18:30 I just have to press 0 to get to my local news.
I can't remember 2,500 channel numbers so just use the EPG to choose what channel to watch.
What would you like to happen when you key in a wrong channel number?

I love your attitude. You didn't pay the Openvix team anything. No-one is forcing you to use their image. Instead of insulting the team you could contribute to the code and fix your problem if you were actually a tech head

When reporting "bugs" one should upload a debug log - the reasons are in the name "debug"

I'm seeing the same as ronand - key in a number for a non-existant channel and the current channel is maintained - the behaviousr is the same for 555 and 5555.

I think maybe it does, the number of digits you can actually type in is one less than the value of Number of digits in channel number.

I've found if I set it to 5, then 5555 stays at the current channel, but 555 goes back to 1.

If I set it to 4, typing in 5555 (only 555 is displayed), it stays at at the current channel, but 555 goes back to 1, as does 55.

Work that one out.

EDIT: The number of digits you can see typed in is one less than Number of digits in channel number, but the number of digits used is Number of digits in channel number.

Excellent. We have, at last, established that something weird is going on with my system.
So now I know it's a bug and not weird design maybe I start to investigate how to get this debug log.
