    Checking Autotimers

I have setup Autotimers for a series named Traffic Cops that has trailing white space(s) at the end of the title.

When I look through the EPG to the following Monday I cannot see the episode marked as being to be recorded.

Also I cannot see the episode listed in forthcoming list of recordings.

Does this mean that the Autotimer(s) that are setup for this series are invalid as far as not picking up the future episodes?

Which has the trailing whitespace? Your AutoTimer, or the actual programme title?

Those should be the same thing - if they weren't it wouldn't be an AutoTimer issue.

Looks like it, but there are other things to consider too, such as any time-of-day, day-of-week, etc. constraints.

The programme title has a trailing whitespace(s) - I have two autotimers setup one to remove the trailing white space(s) from program title and the other autotimer set not to remove the trailing whitespace(s).

Those should be the same thing - if they weren't it wouldn't be an AutoTimer issue.
They are both the same, neither show the forthcoming episode as to be recorded.

I have tried one autotimer with just the title and channel checked and that doesnt show the next episode as 'to be recorded'

Perhaps somebody could try setting up an autotimer on their STB to see if they can see the forthcoming programme to be recorded.

Creating an autotimer defaults to only recording on that day of week, with that title, on that channel, during a particular timespan.

If the next episode isn't in 7 days time you need to change the search criteria.

Next weeks episode is called New: Traffic Cops

Im setting up the Autotimers off the EPG not via a search, so why aren't they showing anywhere that programme is to be recorded

I had the title incorrect in my first post but that doesn't detract from the underlying problem which is that when I add an Autotimer where there are trailing white space(s) on the Title of the program, this causes the Autotimer not to pick up the existing or future occurances of the programme.

I have just done another test using the autotimer where there is just a single word title and this works; the EPG listing showing the programme listing as down to be recorded and also the future programme occurances shown in the list of future programmes to be recorded.

I'm off to do some more testing with programme series which have a New : in the programme title.

    Works ok for me (freeview):

Traffic Cops, Channel 5 HD, exact match, any day, keep trailing spaces, tomorrows episode is found.
Traffic Cops, Channel 5 HD, partial match, any day, keep trailing spaces, Mondays episode of New: Traffic Cops is found.

If trailing spaces are removed, an exact match doesn't work.

This is the first time I've seen the dialogue to remove trailing spaces.

I never use the exact match, just in case a New: (or similar) pops up next time round.
Also, if it's in the original episode I remove it from the AutoTimer.

I'd rather record too much (and delete) than not record what I want.

Mine is satellite and works with every program title that doesn't have trailing white space(s)

I have tried other combinations of New : and they all work as expected.

How many days forward do you have the autotimers set to be created?
I think I have set it to three days in my box, so when I look at the timers on Tuesday, they have only been created until Friday, not yet for next Monday.

I dont know becuase I've never set the number of days. Will go and try and find that setting and get back to you. I will also try it with another programme seven days on from today and see if that works.

That setting is currently 0 and that doesn't appear to alter the fact that the autotimer will set programme recordings forward as far as the EPG is set. I did try to set other programmes with the autotimer and all of these worked as expected - all series programmes set to record for the whole of the EPG.

I really think the problem is the white space issue that is causing this problem.

One solution might be is to set a single timer for the New: Trafic Cops and then chage the frequency to repeated - will check this next Monday to see if it has worked.

Is your AutoTimer looking for an Exact match or a Partial one?

I haven't got the original Autotimer on that programme now, I replaced in favour of a single timer and changed the frequence of that to repeated. I think the original one ended up with just the title (not exact) and channel check.

Another quirky thing was that I added another Autotimer with the same white space problem but that worked fine and the timer was added to the programme on which I added the Autotimer and was also shown in the planned recordings.

I should get time to revisit that today so will delete the repeated single timer and try the Autotimer again.
