I know why am starting on the road to using thses systems...its because the alternative is Humax,Panasonic etc and from what I've seen they are all full of issues...or so it seems. I'm sure some work OK but for the money you expect some sort of consistency and software and firmware that works. Some of the EPGs and remotes I've played with are embarrassingly slow and often require several presses of the button. I am not impressed. then I saw a Formuler F1 box and was surprised by how slick and well it worked.
Thats my rational and I was a bit daunted by relearning how to use Linux and add apps etc etc but I'll get there. Its been 10 years since I worked with Solaris and Red Hat and then only at a peripheral level. But is it a "hobby" for some, or having a PVR of performance, the same as me and disappointed by what the retail market has to offer ?
