If I do will it effect the software etc??

no change Andy just wont show the plug in down load ...im worried a new image will delete all my oscam settings etc .... would this be the case?
Flashing a new image delete everything on flash memory.
You will need to create a settings backup and restore your settings/plugins after flashing newer image.

Are you familiar with using FTP (Filezilla etc)? If so save your Oscam config files and always keep safe on your computer.
