on the left hand side did you see your phone connected and if so did you click your on your phone so that the save shsh icon apeared

i just reaslised some thing boss when you lick save shsh it will pull any shsh made before had from the cydia shsh repo atherwise it will create them

I have jailbroken my Ipod touch on 4.2.1 with redsnow

I had this trouble before on other firmware versions. If you download the 4.1 firmware to your pc do a shift restore. The whole process should go through till almost the end but then you get an error message on itunes. As far as i know thats the bit where its trying to sign off and itunes will not let it. At this point you should be able to use tiny umbrella to kick it outta the mode its stuck in

Tiny umbrella wont save the SHSH.

Tried restoring in many ways Recovery mode and DFU mode, just get 3194 error. Edited hosts file still no joy.

Another update. I had Itunes 9.2 installed. Got pissed off and thought fook it just update the damn to get it working lol.

Any looks like Itunes 9.2 is restoring it to OS4.1. I'll report back when it finishes. Fingers crossed.

Re-installing Itunes 10, OS4.2.1 it is, had enough messing around with this lol.

I suspect you have done all this but have a read anyway.As long as your 4.1 blobs are on cydia you should be able to use this method to go back to 4.1 from 4.2. Think you need to put 4.2 on before you can do anything. Might loose unlock though

The unlock was official through Orange and Itunes. Restoring now to 4.2.1. See if it completes.

Yeah mine was the same from T-Mobile so I was never worried about getting the newest bassbands but had a few mates who lost unlock after jailbreak. I have just kept mine on 4.1 as there seems to be a minefield of stuff out there at present and as you know they are bloody tempremental devices. I had the same problem as you in that I had to put 3.13 on before there was a JB for it just so as I could get back to 3.12
