Brand new box not working on cable side

    Good afternoon all,
having posted for while but wonder if anyone can work this out:

Brought a et8500 from the sponsors and today it turned up

went to work to set up

sat and cable tuners, set up epg and abm and all was ok with the scanning
    installed mgcamd 1.38

go down and blue to sat channels, all working as they should
go down and blue and bottom to cable channels, pick any of them and all a black screen

    any ideas?
    net id ect all ok

everything is ok on zgemma h2h and just added same settings to this box

tested c, n and mgcamd on cable side and nothing, only connected

reconnect zgemma and works straight away?

Right , better be careful where your thread is going here and have another read of the rules.

What I would ask, is for your cable setup, are you picking up any free to air channels ?

Maybe the tuner has become unseated on travel and needs pushed back in

    Nothing like a reminder
I think it was a reminder to me as much as to everyone else.

I don't really know to be honest , you obviously would have eliminated any connectivity and AV setting issue.

I would possibly reflash and just configure cable on its own? I suppose it could be a laborious process-of-elimination exercise?

So obviously your TV overscans and you have modified the receivers screen size to handle the issue?

Assuming I am correct, you have 2 choices.
    1. fix overscan on your TV
    2. write down the changes when you modify the receiver in user interface/position setup
Then reset to defaults & reboot
Then enter written settings and save.
As long as you do not reboot you will not see the live TV around the edges.

    Good news!
For your information, you may be aware though, there is an issue with recording cable channels - it causes serious pixellation on playback and watching another live channel. This has been since 4.2 of Vix. There is also a deep standby problem which I believe may been sorted out.
I had a further problem with IPTV player plugin not working.
With all these issues ongoing I had to revert back to a stable release of 4.1.16 where I have no problems at all.

seems not a tv setting as played with for 2 hours and the lcd is always the gap
going to try a non vix image and see if any change
