That is not a good idea, because... it will get overwritten on updates. This was one of the reasons for CustomMix. These are true user files and not affected by updates.

Quite a bit of stuff overlaps in ABM so there is often more than one way to get the job done, but in general I would discourage users from editing the provider.xml file.

The provider.xml provides the starting point... then edit the output with CustomMix.

CustomMix was made in such a way that people with little to no coding experience can do most stuff and people that can code can do absolutely anything without any modification to any .py file or the provider.xml.

Thanks for this but I've a simple request and after going through the various tutorials I think my request can be best served by ABM admin as it's a general 28.2 E update requirement.

There are two new news channels that's not included in News bouquet. CNN HD & Channels 24. Can you please include the two channels in the News section in the next ABM update? Thanks.

ABM organises channels based on the numbers that Sky determine. The News section is too small, so Sky allocated numbers at the end of documentary section. More than two channels.



There is already a custom mix file in the example thread to move them.

CNN HD does swap with the SD version, so that is in the news Bouquet. My solution to the extra news channels after the Docs is to have another group called news overflow starting at channel 570, currently there are 7 channels in there

CNN HD swap with the SD version means this has been replaced by SD or the channel now in news Bouquet is the CNN HD?

I'll check the Docs section for the overflow you mentioned in the Bouquet after closing.

The channels are already correctly placed in ABM according to Sky UK numbering.

If you are not happy with where the broadcaster has placed them you can use this hack.
