Unfortunately not, I use mac so hdd has to be formatted on expat which TV doesn't recognise, do you think my had is the problem then?
For the first few weeks of having the duo2 it seemed go be fine with it plugged in
I could connect it through other devices if the had is the problem though

Personally I would take the external hdd out and see how the receiver responds. I've setup numerous Vu+ receivers up and never come across your issues, but then again I don't use an external hdd or the Vu+ Turbo tuner. Can I ask why you opted for the USB tuner as opposed to the internal ones?

Taking hdd off the receiver is something I will try when I get home, to see if that resolves the issue

I did want to use internal tuner however the duo2 only has 2 slots for internal tuners and they are both used with dvb-s so I went with the USB tuner

So the internal slots you must have both slots using a single satellite tuner as opposed to the twin tuner module?

So could my problem be the ext hdd or the USB tuner? Or both? The box seemed to be absolutely fine before using the USB tuner but I don't understand why it creates problems as its the official vu+ tuner bought directly from wos shop

If I run though my steps for reflash could somebody could identify the potential issue?

Inserted USB into mac, ran SD formatter and cleaned USB stick

Downloaded latest Openvix official from their site
    Unzipped to desktop
Transferred vuplus folder to USB stick
    Safely removed USB stick
Switched off Vu+duo2 by rocker switch
Unplugged external hdd and USB tuner
Plugged in USB to front USB of receiver
Powered on, prompted update to press power
    Pressed power
    Flashed image
Ran through initial setup - hdmi, lan, tuner configure etc
Downloaded oscam and configured (mods/admins FYI fta only)
    Rebooted box
    Ran autobouquets maker
    Downloaded channels
Downloaded exfat driver from plugin menu
Downloaded vu-turbo-USB driver from plugin menu
    Shutdown box
    Inserted external hdd USB
    Inserted Vu+USB tuner
    Turned on box
Set up cable tuner configure to dvb-c
Ran auto bouquets maker for cable
    Downloaded kiddac's sly skin v4.009
    Rebooted box
Set up box accordingly to my preferences - av settings, cross epg, user interface etc
Formatted internal had and ran initialise to remount
    Ftp to box, transferred picons
    Set up LCD4Linux
    Set up openwebif
    Set up transcoding from plugin
Downloaded add stream URL from plugin menu and added BBC three to my bouquet
    Rebooted box
    Done

Tried without the external hdd, still same issue, box freezes up frequently when on cable channel, so only way to resolve is switching off from back and when I switch back on box freezes on 'double' showing on vfd screen, only way to get by it is plugging in USB as recovery, ignoring the update and letting it boot that way.
I am leaning towards thinking the issue is with the USB tuner

Which is very frustrating because it's made by Vu+ and is designed for the box I have, but clearly doesn't work as its described :/ I suppose I will have to just give up being able to use satellite and cable

It makes sense for this to be the issue because I didn't have any problems before I used cable

found on several other websites that it is a compatibility problem with openxxx images. The combination seems to work fine on BH .Maybe try once with one off these images.Unfortunatly you will not have the advantages of openvix.

Also with your setup, do you have 3 satellite feeds coming into your room going into Tuner A, Tuner B and Tuner C?
