    Updating

    Hi,

I have a VU+ Solo2 currently running 3.3.6, I can't run an update as the box tells me it isn't connected to the internet - it is! I can't add any plug ins as the feeds are down for maintenance - they seem to be always down for me
Is there something/many things I'm doing wrong?

    Cheers,

    Keith.

You could ftp the latest image into the image manager folder on your hdd. Or you could flash using a usb. When you say 3.3.6 do you mean 3.3-006?

If you press blue button, ViX, Image Manager, press yellow button, do you see the latest available image from ViX? It should be at the top and say ViX 4.0-003? If so you can green button to download, but with you saying no internet connection I'm guessing not.

Maybe 3.0.626? Does that sound better. As you can see I haven't played with ther box for a while. Never needed to.

Back up taken. If I flash using the latest image will all my settings remain?

Seems to me the problem might be about this "not internet connected" message. But It is connected

    Cheers,

    Keith.

Have you run a network test from the menu. Make sure dhcp is turned on and your cable is ok.

    Hi Keith,
That is ancient image. The feeds (plugins) won't work as they have been switched off for that image a good while ago. I don't think a settings restore would work as you are on such an old image. If you are familiar with ftp you could always ftp into your receiver (using DCC, filezilla etc) and you could save your cam config files etc to your pc.
Its good to do a clean install every now n then.
Also is the receiver a genuine receiver? I ask cos if not, newer ViX images won't work on clone receivers.

    Regards,

    Hi Ashley,

Just for you, a screen shot I don't understand the connection error message when the box is cleary connected

It's the same problem on a solo I have in my bedroom. Both really old images, both not connected to the internet - when they are.

    Hi Andy,

Gonna lose all my settings? Nooooo! So, start from scratch? Bugger. All I'm trying to do is get kodi on my boxes so I can have a better interface for the films stored on my NAS.
I can ftp (been a while) Both my boxes Solo and Solo2 are genuine so no worries there.

    Cheers,

    Keith.

Yeah Keith, start from scratch! lol. You are on a very very very old image I'm afraid. Also the Vu+ Solo is no longer a supported receiver, the last available image for the Solo is 3.2-037. Solo2 is ok to update to ViX 4.0-003 though.
Its decisions decisions time, like I say you can ftp n save your important files like cam configs etc.
Being on the latest image will give you access to the feeds (plugins) along with any new drivers, kernel updates etc. But your current build won't allow for such things.
    Good luck!!

Also as a side note Keith, ViX has come on heaps n bounds since 3.0.626. ViX's ABM (AutoBouquetsMaker) is awesome, you have CrossEPG (7 day guide), a wide choice of skins, skins like Confluence which will give you the Kodi feel, or YouViX-Blue which gives you the YouView feel, loads n loads of advantages to be on the latest image Keith.

    Hi Andy,

A couple of quick questions if I may, before I let you go........

I understand that it is the age of the images that are giving the plugins "feeds are down" messages. Is it also the age of the images that are resposible for the "no internet connection" messages?
Even If I re flash the Solo I won't get the plugins?
Is there a way to install kodi via ftp to the solo? I'm assuming that even 3.2-037 won't get me the plugins?
What are cam configs? Is that my custom bouquets? Timers, Auto Timers etc? Or are they all to be lost
If I do update on the Solo2, will Kodi do what I want? Just a nice interface for the films on my NAS.

OK, that was more than a couple of questions Thanks for your help.

    Cheers,

    Keith.

    Hi Keith,
Yes most likely the age of the image is giving you no connection.
Installing ViX 3.2-037 on your Vu+ Solo will give you access to the feeds yes. Full Kodi isn't available for the Solo though. DreamPlex (Plex) could be an alternative for you, still has nice interface etc.
Vu+ Solo2 does have the full Kodi but this is a very old build also, v13.0 if memory serves me well. Or you could use DreamPlex on both boxes to hook up to your NAS?
ABM gives your your channels, be it 28.2 (Sky), Freesat etc.
Assuming you have sky? Your cam config files is your softcam details, assuming you have a legit sky subscription and using a sky card in your receiver. No card sharing, line talk is permitted on this forum so be mindful and bear this in mind.

Good luck Keith! Any problems or any help you need just ask. In ABM if using Sky, be sure to use "Custom'Region'" in Providers. Use expert mode and make sure "not indexed channels" is set to YES. So if you are from London for eg. You would have CustomLondon in your providers. Having the Custom will get rid of all the unwanted HD channels that are not viewable.
