Looking for a new box - Vu+ new enough?

    Hello guys,

I had a nano 9650ip box, and now want to get something newer.
I see the Vu Solo2 is very well regarded, and can do XBMC/Kodi... nice!

But I also see it was made about 5 years ago, or I see posts about it from 2010... Is it fast, I have tried an Openbox and it is really slow.

What options are there for a box
dual tuner good (but not necessary)
    XBMC/Kodi capable
    snappy fast?

    Thanks,
    Mark.

Vu+ solo 2 user here, with blue hd and open vix! I came from a openbox and all I can say is the vu+ solo 2 smashes it! I think it's even better than a real sky box as I can stream to my PC / iphone / iPad and the missus can watch tv at the same time!

Whichever box you decide on, don’t be expecting a fully working XBMC/Kodi.

Thanks guys, I was just concerned there may be something better given 5 years in technology is an age! WRT Kodi, it would be a nice to have, I'm using the superb Nvidia Shield Android TV box for that.

Good to get such positive vibes about solo2.

Solo2 getting a bit dated but still a great box & has a processor that runs at current generation box speeds.
Much better value on some Extrend boxes at the moment though.
The fastest processors & the more tuners you can add, makes all the difference.

Xtrend ET8000 not as often used as Solo2, both manufacturers have their own driver issues. Most not noticed by everyday users till you encounter them.
As a VU user, I'd be more interested in the ET8000 for value for money & extra tuner option, but VU do better remote controls...

And the remote control argument is taken out of if you use a proper control like Harmony provide, but extra cost if you don't already have one.

Hi I'll have to research what an extra tuner means... I'm guessing it's something that can't be discussed on the forum. I don't have any foxy remote... Thanks again!

Personally I prefer the ET8K/10K remote to the VU+ remotes. Suits my hands better and also have Info button the VU+ remotes lack.

Another receiver to consider is the Mutant HD2400.

Extra tuners......as in satellite/cable tuners.....VuSolo2 has twin tuner (like Sky) but you can have more dependant on your requirements.

    Nothing illegal with extra tuners

Ah right, so to record and watch different things... I presume all these good top models can record to a memory stick, I probably won't get a HD if Kodi isn't that good on these boxes...
