    Question: BBC One HD not broadcasting 24/7

    Hi,

    Finally got around to using ABM feature of swapping SD channels for HD and noticed that some programmes you get a message that it's not available in HD yet, and asking about changing channel to SD version to continue viewing programmes.

    Is this a regional thing or is it a case that not every programme is available on BBC One HD (even the main London region)?

    ITV HD and Ch4 HD don't appear to have this problem so I assume they upscale SD programmes to HD.

    If this is just a regional problem then how is best way for me to swap my regional BBC One HD for the main (London) BBC One HD as I'm thinking using CustomLCN feature.

    Thanks

    BBC one HD is their premier part time channel. The regional London transmissions are also part time. The BBC have only had a couple of years to sort the problem.

    It's bad if you think the likes of ITV/CH4, etc don't have this problem.

    You are saying ITV HD don't have these problems, well they sort of do, if you live in Leeds Yorkshire and watch ITV HD on sat your local news will be from Manchester

    Is this the contents I need for customLCN to swap BBC One HD for the regional BBC One North West?

    Code:
    <custom>
    	<include>yes</include>
    	<lcnlist>
    		<configuration lcn="101" channelnumber="141" description="BBC One N West"></configuration>
    	</lcnlist>
    </custom>

    Why dont you

    Option 1
    remove the swap line?
    Still swap

    Option2
    Create main bouquet as HD
    Do not swap

    Sorry, I don't know what you mean?

    I'm going to use sd custom region and use swap so that channels 1 - 4 are in HD but then because 101 BBC One HD doesn't broadcast 24/7 was hoping to swap that one channel to the SD version.

    Option2
    Create main bouquet as HD
    Do not swap
    This would mean that BBC One HD will remain as it is on 101 but i'm hoping to swap BBC One HD for SD version.

    You basically don't want to swap 141 with 101, but still swap the others.

    Line 221 of provider file, delete the line that swaps BBC SD with BBC HD
    <channel number="101" with="141" /><!-- BBC One HD -->

    BBC One HD doesn't have any English regions so when program is regional you need to select SD version. If channels are swapped just key in 141. BBC One England HD regions will start in 2 years time according to BBC blog. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/abouttheb...3-7963e8ec1225

    ITV, same problem exists as there are less HD regions than SD regions. But instead of the red screen, you have to watch news from the wrong region.

    Channel 4 has six SD regions, and only one HD region. The only difference is the content of the adverts. Programs are simulcast.

    It is there several times a day. Always with a counter counting down to the restart time. And yes, transmission is 24/7 if you want to watch penguins going round in circles, but if you want content you have to switch channel.
