Losing the settings is no big deal as I often mess with them.
Bouquets are managed via Dreambox edit so they are on my laptop, so I assume they can just be sent back to the box.

Stupid question now - 'Make a backup image so you can revert if needed'. how do I go about this, is the back up on the box(hdd) or on my laptop ?

When in Image Manager, you get option to create a backup "New Backup". This will create an exact copy of the image on receiver, (options, settings, plugins, bouquets). This is saved to receiver's HDD as that is default backup location.

You can transfer it to laptop to keep safe. You can also flash that image using a USB flash drive. If using USB, you have to unzip the folder.
