I had a similar issue on initial flash on all my boxes mut@nt, miracle box, lx1, lx2 but after reboot all was fine, no issues.

I only updated because I was getting some reliability problems with my box and wanted a complete fresh install. I'm now running with a reformatted internal hard disk, a new USB stick (for epg storage) and nothing other than what came with the image download.
I saw the start up screen many times, didn't ever get pass it, because of my reboot problem. And yes I'll agree it's ugly.

I quite like it as a default. It's plain and to the point.
If you want something else it's a simple task to put it in place (my box is set to switch randomly between a set of different FullHD images, although it usually boots up when the TV isn't switched to the box anyway, so I usually miss them).

Can't remember now if I removed it or not, I'll try again sometime.
