You only nneded to fresh flash if you were below 155. If you are already on 156, you can perform an online update to 166

My Mut@nt 2400 came with version 165 installed. If I click on 2 Upgrade and reboot system, will it affect my system, or things I have recorded on my internal hard drive, in any way? Or will it just update the software, with no other affect?

Upgrading image does not affect internal HDD. Recordings will not be affected.

Abu baniaz when you say you only need to do an online update what do you mean ? The only thing I knew I could do would be download latest from openvix onto a usb and plug it in, press update and re load everything from scratch. is there another way ?

    Ps I have a vu + solo 2
    thanks

Normally:You will get a flashing green icon on your infobar to inform you taht a stable update is available. You then do teh following: Menu > Setup > Software update. You can then select upgrade and reboot. This will update files that have been updated without altering your settings.

I said "normally". Reason for this is that from time to time, we recommend you flash a new image without restoring plugins/settings. The next update could be a new image, so the update method may not be possible.

i see.. i have seen that green flashing light before. i actually did the process you speak of about a week or two before i actually flashed to the new image. Under information it shows that python 2.7.3 updated 8/4/15.. presume that is what updated under that process? However apollo didn't change from version 90 to 166 until I did a full flash... is that because there were far too many updates in between ?
