    Exclamation Quick safety check

Just invested in a zero. It has the factory image on, but I am going to flash with the VIX image. Is the flashing process the same as my duo? ie...

Place the VIX image download onto a USB drive
    Power off the zero
    Insert the USB Stick
    Power on
    Zero is flashed
Power off remove stick and restart?

Just thought I'd make sure, I don't want to break my new toy

    Thanks

go to www.openvix.co.uk and look in the guides and tutorials section, you will find a full flashing tutorial there for this and pretty much all other receivers we support.

the reason I ask is, when I read the tutorials, they mentioned something called a 'boot loader' I'm unsure what this is?

I never use boot loader when flashing my duo? Should I be doing?

Bootloaders only need to be flashed once per update (update of the bootloader it self not the image), bootloaders are released by the manufacturer as and when require. Once it has been flashed you dont need to worry about it until the manufacturer releases another which may never happen in most cases.

you may only see two bootloaders for a receiver over it's entire life time, you may see more, you may see none. Either way it is nothing to worry about, currently the Zero does have a new bootloader available but there is a tutorial for that also on www.openvix.co.uk too.
