    Have you looked at remote using your cameraphone to see if it is sending a signal? This is to establish whether remote is working or not.

    You used to be able to point a remote at an AM radio and here beeps, don't know if that still works.

    Turn the camera on on your phone as if to take a picture, and while looking at the screen point your remote at the phone and click some buttons. you will know if it's working.
