I was wondering - why are the code names for ViX releases Greek Gods? Just a fun question, but I couldn't help noticing that v i x are three "Roman numerals" with scope to get us to xxxix (39). That's just a few less than the 42 principle gods in ancient Greek Mythology, so perhaps there is more leaway this way?

Anyway my own favourite is Aeolus!

P.S. Keep up the gr8 work - it is appreciated by lots of us.

No particular reason, we just decided to move away from the older numbered system as ViX 4.0 would have implied that we were following in Pli's footsteps and as our OE core is longer Pli based we though it a good time to change the way we named the image.

ViX stands for Virtuoso Image Xtreme, formerly Vu+ Image Xtreme ( Xtreme spelled with a X rather than a Ex )

Is there any reason why it can;t be released on the boxes it has already passed testing on?,

It appears the team is wanting to do a "big bang" with all supported systems, hence delaying most others which it most likely has already passed on :-(

Thats not it at all, there will very likely be a number of receivers left out of the initial release due to issues still waiting to be fixed by the manufacturers, as always we are working on things here and when we are all happy with the results it will be pushed onto the public download site @ www.openvix.co.uk.

    Hi phoenix.

Just wondering what the main reason(s) for the Apollo release is - stability, hardware support or are we going to see new stuff? Or is it a secret!

If I recall Helios "jumped" the gun a bit due to the heartbleed SSL vulnerability.

    Thanks

Not really; heartbleed just happened to be fixed in time to make it to Helios.

And in fact the reason for the Apollo release is the same as for Zeus & Helios: fundamental changes in the Open Embedded code that requires flashing (and in the case of Zeus a clean set up; Helios & Apollo can be restored with saved settings).

my green light is still flashing because I reverted back to 16 as 17 seemed to mess up ABM & CrossEPG on my Solo2 I kept getting error logs and crashes, but it is now spot on with Helios 16 and my green light still flashed with Helios 17

If you mean you'r channels keep freezing, that has nothing to do with the image, try looking at the method by which you obtain those channels.

It's a known issue on Helios build 017, it's simply a missing bootlogo file, dont worry it wont affect the running of the image, Apollo is in the very final stages of testing now, without going into ETA's as we cant do that, the release should be very near now.
