hdd not recognised

hi just put a 3.5 inch seagate 500gb hdd in straight from a sky+ box into a tm2t nano but its not there at all do i need to format it first before it goes into the tm2t or will it just not work at all cheers ive connected it with the wide sata/power cable cheers

Yes, it will work fine.
You'll have to initialise it first though.
Menu -> Setup -> System -> Storage devices -> Initialisation.
