Yes, you will need to have an ftp client. DCC will work. Although there is no password, use root as well otherwise DCC will not work.

do I need the to down load the tcc to control the nano if so could some boday tell me how it works please
You need ftp and telnet tools. DCC has these, there are alternative methods. For transferring channel lists, use dreamset/dreamboxedit or similar.
