2 boxes... one with a feed and one without...

Hey guys

I have a spare gigablue 800 se due to me upgrading from duo to giga quad.

My question is can I put this box in my uncle room without a satellite feed using romotestreamconverter or something similar?

The setup in his house is...

Livingroom- gigablue hd 800 se
Satelite feed
Connected to internet via homeplug

And the idea is to....

Connect another gigablue hd 800 se in his bedroom without a satellite feed but connected to internet

Can it be done? Is there any limitations?

Yes, Can easily be done using another homeplug.
Only limitation is that when its in use, it will tie up one of the tuners on the quad.

I'd be interested in a similar setup. My assumption was that each sat box would need it's own feed from the dish.

Not much to elaborate on.
Having feeds from your dish to all tuners is obviously best, however if you don't have a feed from the dish & have boxes on the same network, you can 'borrow' a tuner from another box over the network.

The house in question ONLY has a gigablue hd 800 se and I was wondering if I could add another gigablue hd 800 se via homeplug

So basically its 2 single tuner boxes

If you have only 1 tuner you will have no tuner left if you enable remote stream on another box.
You need at least 2 tuners in the main box to do what you do and really you need more.
If the second box is on all the time then you will only have 1 tuner left to watch and record TV.
I have a DUO2 with 4 SAT tuners and use 2 Raspberry PIs to stream to 2 other TVs and often see that the 2 tuners left are often gone with recordings.
So if its regular use you should aim for 4 tuners.

Can still be done, but the tuner will be used by one of the boxes limiting what can be viewed on the other box at the same time.

No, a twin tuner using loopthough will still have more recording/viewing options than a single tuner, shared or not.
