    Anyway, back to the topic

Can I ask if the quad is any more susceptible to brick than any other box.. I seems to be reading more and more posts that people have bricked their box while upgrading the bootloader. Is this down to user error or box malfunction?

Personally, I have not read or heard of any one bricking one. There are many guides on this site, and like any other piece of kit, if you follow them to the letter you will be OK. These guides only work if the correct files are being used in the correct way. All such boxes can be bricked but very few are. You just need to take things slowly and surely.

Another shout out for some more help.

Got VIX on the box now and it's working well. Anyone know where I might grab picons and a Sky Boutique by any chance.

Starting to chill a bit now, isn't the car crash I thought it would be... phew.

Picons can be found in the plugin feeds, Menu -> Plugins -> Green button -> picons or http://www.world-of-satellite.com/fo....php?35-Picons
SKY Bouquets can be set up by, Menu -> Setup -> Service Searching -> AutoBouquetsMaker

No more than any other receiver, but you must also remember that a bootloader update is akin to a bios update on a PC and if for example the unit powers down mid way through the process of updating the bootloader it will brick it. at best it will need j-tagging back to life and at worst it will become a doorstop.

Got to say I'm well out my comfort zone with this box and VIX. I hope it all starts to sink. I was half tempted to send the box back and get a Duo but after some thought I don't see there being any point, it's the OS I'm struggling with not the hardware..

Only snag I'm having now is the only storage option I'm having for the picons is internal storage even though there is 2 USB sticks in the unit. I'll plod on, maybe it's a silly mistake I'm making.

    Thanks fella's.

I think you are jumping ahead a bit. Get used to the box for a few weeks and do a back up to usb before you try new things.
I have put loads of picons etc on my box and then removed them if it all goes pear shaped. Even had to do a reflash when I have got lost in all the confusion. Spend loads of time looking for info and only ask when I am completely stumped. But that is the fun of it all, bit like a blind date..........

you would only need 1 for picons the channel list will go into the flash , you would need a usb stick or hdd for the epg
Vu + Duo , 1.5tb hard drive installed , 1.2 channel master dish , 1224 jagger motor , alsat g box , quad lmb prime focus , diablo cam 2.3 , diablo wi-fi cam, te-rex cam, dragon cam, cas 3 , technomate 6900 super stb , manhattan stb

Try formatting it through the receiver to a linux compatible mode, as for channel lists or bouquets, these are held in live memory not the USB stick.

Can I ask for a possible update on your progress Jason?

I've just ordered my first enigma 2 box and just curious as to how you are coping...

I'm quite new to this as well lol.

Hey Stevie. To be honest mate it's a piece of cake. At first like anything new it's a bloody headache, but given time and alot of reading things just fell into place.

CrossEPG and AutoBmaker in VIX is great and just works. What box have you bought yourself mate?
