    Vu+ Solo2 Recording problems

I am new at this so please be gentle! I have purchased a Vu+ Solo2 with Blackhole version 2.0.6 installed along with a 500g hard drive. I have configured the satellite feeds, downloaded the channels, downloaded software and EPG info and connected with my network. All is well apart from a couple of missing channels (I will catch up with these later). However I am experiencing some difficulty with recording more than one programme in an evening. I have looked through the forums and cannot find reference to this problem.

I discovered early on that timer recording does not work unless I switch the Vu+ to standby but it is when I try and record a subsequent programme that I am having problems. I set up both programmes with the timer and set the “action after recording” to switch to standby. The first programme records fine but the second shows in the list of recordings with no duration against it and when I try to play it, I get nothing.

Am I doing something wrong? Any advice gratefully welcome.

Tried the same enquiry on a Vu+ forum but answers so far are a bit confusing for a new user like me.

I would first try making a image backup then flash a more upto date image to see if that resolves your issues, unfortunately i'm not familiar with the inner workings of the BH image so cant really help much on that front.

This can be tricky so you need to say how many tuners you have in box, is it a single or a twin, you then need to say if its a fixed dish or a motorised, or are you using a switch eg diseq abcd etc. have you the epg stuff on a usb stick? when you say you have epg etc what did you do exactly?

I have the uno with a twin tuner and a play tv dtt twin, I use bH2.0.7 and have left recording setting at auto.

It comes with a DVB-S2 Twin-Tuner and it is connected to two fixed dishes (28.2E and 5W). I am trying to record separate events off 28.2E using the Sky - UK cross EPG. the machine is switched to standby and each event is set to close by switching to standby. The first event records fine, the second shows in the menu but with no duration and will not playback.

What exactly are your tuner settings (configuration)?
Does this happen on FTA channels? Or also on encrypted channels?
What local card do you use?
Please go to 'Satfinder' and see if both tuners actually give a good signal on several transponders (vertical/horizontal-low/high-frequency).

I will have to get back to you later as I want to run some recording permutations of FTA and encrypted channels. It may be a few days.

If you only have one 28.2 feed and you are trying to record program's that overlap each other the second one won't start unless it is on the same transponder, also if you are watching a show on 28.2 and a recording is set to start, that might not start if you don't have recordings set as priority, in which case you will cease to watch the channel currently and be zapped to channel to be recorded, for example in my area if I am watching ITV HD with only one 28.2 feed I could only record Itv+1 because that is the only other channel on that transponder.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I now have it linked up to two feeds of 28.2, both configured as simple, and everything works fine. Just one further question, if I go on holiday for 3 or 4 weeks and set up some repeat recording of series (all on encrypted channels), will they all work without any other intervention to change the transponder. Again, many thanks for all the input./
