    looking to get a HDD

    Hi all,

I am looking to get a HDD for my Solo2. Should I go for 5400 or 7200? Or makes no difference at all?

    Thanks

Look for a dedicated PVR-HDD (they are indeed 5400 RPM and produce little warmth) or a 2.5" (laptop) HDD.
If you're looking for a large disk (say above 1TB) the 3.5" DVR HDD would be your choice.

Sorry, I forgot: the Solo2 only takes an 2.5" HDD.

Yes. And otherwise it would be no problem, as all SATA III HDD's are backwards compatible. As is SATA III if the HDD is SATA I/II.
In other words: you can put any 2.5" SATA HDD in the Solo2.

Will the following WD SATA III 2.5 fit the Solo2?

    Metric

Any 2.5" HDD will do for the Solo2: the box has plenty of room.

Just make sure you use the rubber gromits though or you will short the hard drive

    Hi there,

got the HDD, now should the HDD be seated on top of the bracket or underneath the bracket?

This article suggest underneath, but I have seen it fitted on top in a few internet posting.

    Code:

    Both will do fine.
There's plenty of room on both sides and an HDD won't blame you for having to work upside-down.
