How To Use drivers from older image with newer image

Hi all, just wondered how I can use drivers from an old vix image with a new vix image.
Do I just need to copy over some files using ssh ?
Would be nice to have a step by step guide posted on quick support if anyones willing.

Back-up the drivers from the build you want.
/lib/modules/3.5.3/extra/bcmlinuxdvb.ko, in this case.
Update the image & overwrite the drivers with the one you backed up.
