Write error disc full on fat32 usb hdd

Ive got a 1tb wd usb hdd split into 3 partitions, plugged it in and mounted the fat32 300gb partition. All seemed ok apart from i noticed i couldnt use permanent timeshift option and I got the drive is not an ext2,3 or 4 error. And while recording after about an hour had a disc full error even though i had loads of room left, so figured out it was probably to do with the fat32 4g file limit. Just wondering if i can format the fat32 partition to ext2, 3 or 4, which ext number i should use and any guides out there for doing this in windows

you could use Gparted or parted magic ( both available on this site ) to format one of the partitions to ext3 or ext4.

either should be fine although i would personally go wit EXT4 as it's the newer format.

Re: Write error disc full on fat32 usb hdd

getting "creating Hard-link to Timeshift file failed! The Filesystem on your Timeshift -Device does not support hardlinks. Make sure it is formatted in Ext2 or Ext3!. but permanent timeshift then seems to work, getting glitching now though, thinking this was maybe a bad idea,
is it possible to put an internal drive in as 4gb simply isnt enough for some longer tv shows

edit: can live without the permanent timeshift even though its weird that after the error it seems to work, (maybe its a time sensitive error)as just recorded over 5.5gb with no problems, sorted

Re: Write error disc full on fat32 usb hdd

yeh i turned permanent Timeshift off as the error was getting on my nerves and it crashed a few times, but recording seems fine now so i figured i could live without the timeshift.

Ok mate, did this error happen due to you updating the latest vix? Let's hope andy blac can fix this.

Re: Write error disc full on fat32 usb hdd

Permanent timeshift wont enable in fat32, so was the first time i tried recording over 4gb which prompted me to look at formatting the drive to linux, but i did click on software update yesterday which took me to build 652

timeshift should be setup to use an ext3 or ext4 device.
