    Newbie help

    Hi All,

Sorry if these are silly questions, I have read as much as I can and used the search facility.
I've bought a Solo2 and a dreambox 500 (probably a clone judging by the price). The Solo is for the lounge and the DM500 for the bedroom (no HD TV in that room). The idea is to record shows from the lounge onto my PC and being able to watch them in bed sometimes.

I've flashed the 500 with Gemini_0470_DM500_max_var_12122009 and it starts ok, watching the Beeb with no probs.
I've flashed the Solo with openvix-3.0.600-vusolo2_usb.zip and again the Beeb is coming through loud and clear.

Using my web browser I can "talk" to both boxes.

I've downloaded Vix 28.2 East Sky UK Bouquets 03-03-13 and using DreamboxEDIT have FTP'd the contents to both boxes. Here's my problem, I'd have expected both boxes to have a similar appearance and that both boxes and channel numbers would be similar to my previous Sky+ HD box. But they are all completely different.

Have I really missed the point or am I doing something wrong?

    Cheers, in advance,

    Keith.

as you are using 2 different images they are bound to be different! on the vix box use the autobouqetmaker in the scanning setup options and run that to give you a channel list just like skys one! as for the other box i have no clue as im not clued up with dream boxes

    You need two different boouquets.

    The SOLO2 is E2 an the DM500 is E1.

Also when sending the bouquets to the box you need to select Engima2 for the SOLO2 and Satelliet for the DM500 - you can creaet profiles so do that for each box and select the right settings and save so that next time you just pick the box you want.

The bouquets you will find in the Enigima 1 and 2 sub forums but I would just use Autobouquetmaker on the SOLO2

I'd recommend using the Commando 14.7 image on your DM500. It wil do epg and channel scans/bouquets on its own.

Using the OE Alliance Autobouquets on the Solo2 and channel numbers will be what you were used too. Just make sure that the Sky UK is top of your list of providers.

DMM stopped making the DM500 well over 6 plus years ago, so any box now sold has a very high chance of being a clone and as such we cant support clones here. as for the differing layouts you have to remember the DM500 is a very old receiver running on a now pretty much obsolete OS / image where as the solo2 uses the very latest Enigma2 images.
