    Remote control charset

    Hi,
I am having trouble entering my encryption key for WLAN.
The alpha-numeric keyboard on the remote doesn't seen to include the tilde char (~).
I tried the text option to bring up the on-screen keyboard, but that is also missing the tilde.
A separate on-screen graphic seems to suggest the number keys could be used like text-entry on a mobile phone.
The tilde does appear there, but I can't figure out how to cycle through the chars for each button.
When I press a button repeatedly I just get the digits repeated.
Any ideas how to do this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
for the Ultimo you must configure the RC so that textinput with the digits is allowed. This is due to the keyboard on the back of the original remote.

If you want to enter your key just do it on your PC. The file you need to edit is wpa_supplicant.conf located in /etc BUT BEWARE use an editor which can handle linux files like NotePad++ or UltraEdit.

    ciao

    Thanks for the help Trial.
I'm not sure if I can edit the config file directly just now, as I don't have a working network connection yet.
Can you let me know how to configure the remote for text entry with the numeric keypad?

It's OK, I just found the option to enable text entry.
    Thanks.

I've hit another dead-end - there are no curly brace chars available using any input method.
Can I connect a computer directly to the Ultimo with a crossover cable? What would be the required network settings?
    Thanks.

yeah, set up the box with a static IP on the same network as your computer.
connect them both by standard network cable & use ftp or telnet to connect.

Would anybody be able to recommend suitable network settings?
I have it setup as follows, but it isn't working:

    Use DHCP: no
    IP address: 192.168.0.10
    Netmask: 255.255.255.0
    Use a gateway: yes
Gateway: 192.168.0.3 (this is the laptop IP address)
    Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
    Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0

I have tried standard & crossover ethernet cables.
    FileZilla is unable to connect.

Problem solved - Ethernet port on laptop has a separate IP address than usual Wifi network address - using that subnet worked.
