auto update from vix 3.0.339 to 3.0.558

    Hi,
I have downloaded image vix 3.0.339 and just found that latest image 3.0.558 has been uploaded to vix images.
Is there anyway I can update my current image to the latest one automatically?
    thanks.

In theory you should be able to do an online update... However, if the image is too old sometimes this is not possible.

For example, I was running Vix 3.0.502 before Christmas and was away for four weeks... when I returned home, I tried to do an online update (to build 552) but for some reason this was not possible. I had to download the image and them go through the nausea of setting it up manually. However, since then no problems updating and now at build 561.

This experience may have been just related to build 502 and it is possible your build 339 can update directly to the current latest. YMMV. So make a backup and give the online update a try.

If current image is below 521, you must flash by USB. Afterwards, you can perform an online update.

Re: auto update from vix 3.0.339 to 3.0.558

Too much has changed in the image to allow updates from such a early build.

For example the ocram picon feeds were changed from Dropbox and are now hosted by our selves, if your image is still pointing towards this old feed it will drop our with errors which can be seen in a telnet update.

You can still create a settings backup and use that to restore any newly flashed image, so its no real loss.
