    Installing an internal hard drive

Hello! I've had my ET-9000 for a while now, and I have bought a nice new Western Digital 2TB WD20EARX. Only trouble is I can't find the internal screws that the ET9000 must have come with, nor (perhaps more important) can I find inside the ET9000 the two cables I got to connect the hard drive. Does anyone know whether these came seperate as well and where I need to plug them into?

    Thanks!

The internal cables are a power lead and SATA cable and manual shows you where there go.

For the cable look on the side in case they slipped into a gap during transit

As for the screws might be in a small brown box?

For the screws, I will look for a small brown box in my big box of screws and cables. As for the cables, they are definitely not inside the receiver. I do have a power cable I can use, but it seems to me the connector inside the receiver is not the normal sata connector for the data..

Oh right, my computer loving friend was telling me it was a connection he hadn't seen before. Clearly I need to do a bit more research then ... and looking through my box of cables!!! I will let you all know when I get it working!

Right, I am making progress but this is getting embarrasingly difficult for me

With this photo, have I got the connectors right? I think the white connector is right, but it is proving difficult to get in. Whilst I could press hard on it, I don't want to press too hard and break something!

The one I have problems with getting in is the white connector, which I think is the power one? The thin black connector I am pretty sure is correct.

Yes, that is the one I am asking about.

It will only go in so far and I want to make absolutely sure I have identified the right places for the connectors to go before I apply hard pressure so I don't break anything.

i have just double checked my unit, and yes its correct, so you should be ok

I think there is a plastic clip that offers resistance untill the plug is fully engaged, it then locks over the top of the plug, cant be certain, with out taking the lid off my unit, but the connector is defo correctly positioned

Thank you for your help - yes, it is the white flap that was making it difficult before but it is in now and the hard drive is installed!

And for taximonkey who was asking, yes the receiver is recognising all 2TB!

Hmm, having said that, the receiver now seems to have "lost" my new drive and won't recognise it after a few hours when it was there. Seems I spoke too soon
