buying a box for a £100 quid off e-bay is very likely to land you in the same situation, and MAC codes are 12 digits

so its probable that its a clone

your best bet, if you want a good unit, thats certain NOT to be a clone, is our sponsor WOS, dependant on your budget, a HD unit can cost as little as £70 ish, but would suggest the clarktek range or VU
also peeps are always upgrading there units, ie, VU+ DUO to the ULTIMO so keep an eye in the for sale sections

I am sorry you seem to have been duped, but did post a warning about clones within the thread
    Units; VU+Ultimo/duo/DM800/7020HD/tm9100
    1.2 channel master/quad feedhorn/36volt /vbox
1 fixed dish, and 1 motorized 1mtr dish
and a pile of redundant cards/cams

basil thx for all your help and advice you and some of the other forum been great trying to help me. I aint really been duped as it cost me next to nothing except a days time the guy had a shed load of these and I got one for peanits. I think I should have stuck to a well known make instead of wasting my time on some experimental rubbish, i learnt my lesson from this. I will buy one from the site, seems they ere well supported, cant ask for more really

A new DB is upwards of £350, if he had shed loads of these experimental units, and from your previous comments, he is clearly very dodgy

as far as buying a unit from WOS, goes, what ever you buy will be ok, but trust me, you get what you pay for

the cheaper units do have limitations, but non the less, can do most of what the better units can do, its just a bit more work ( recordings etc )

but at least you hav,nt lost to much other than time, I just wish we could have got you sorted

Nothing like the joy of an original, non clone box...
Still a learning experience if you're not used to them but well worth it.
