oh well, thats that idea killed off

I have an Ultimo here, and no problems what ever

where did you get the unit from, and how much was it?

it does sound like there is a fault with the unit
    Units; VU+Ultimo/duo/DM800/7020HD/tm9100
    1.2 channel master/quad feedhorn/36volt /vbox
1 fixed dish, and 1 motorized 1mtr dish
and a pile of redundant cards/cams

i got it from red apple ditial for 450

To me it looks like a processing problem. but i aint clued up on video processing.

i am going to test on another tv. and make some recordings with my ipbox and view them on my ultimo.

well thats a top price, the reason for the question, was there could be a possibility of the unit being a clone, but doubt thats the case

one other possibility is the unit set to 1080, or 720...if 1080, try 720,

well hopefully someone in the morning might help you with a solution, its a shame you found us after you bought the unit, our sponcer is second to none, and all units are tested before dispatch, but this does,nt help you now

please stick with it, but in the end, you might need to contact the peeps you bought from

    jamie your not alone,
I mentioned this some time back when the new bootloader was given, it was since this it has happen, and others have also stated the same.
This is on my duo box.
It is like sharp small lines on fast movements..
Originally i tried it on my sons same tv using there leads etc and still same.
It is nothing to with hdmi leads, tv settings or anything as my setup was exact same nothing changed then the bootloader was installed, then the fault.
It is still here today and annoying.
I will have to get hold of another box other than a vu to test and see if the problem is still there as i am yet to do this as not easy to get hold of a box for free to test lol.

    That sounds like (de)interlace problems.
What is the resolution of the channels on whci that happens?
What is the video-output setting of your box.

Well, one thing is for sure: the bootloader can't have anything to do with it. Nothing the bootloader does has any influence on the system's output.

I don't know if this will help but I had to put a Variable attenuator on my Ultimo, the symptoms I noticed when not using a attenuator apart from not getting all the channels I should get was the odd stutter/jerkiness. I'm using a 1.2 dish.

I know this sounds daft, but have you tried uninstalling the video enhancements system plugin? I've tried that and I sware the picture is sharper and clearer. SD seems better, but there seems a marked improvement with HD sharpness.

I'm not saying that is where the problem is (I'm still a newbie), but it might be something else to try to see if it fixes it.

It maybe like being an audiophile with sound. The less the original signal is played with (the less software is handling it) the more pure the output and you can just use the TV to adjust many of those settings. Just thinking aloud m8
