    will not read card

I'm using VIX 2.3 on an ET9200 and it won't read an official/valid s#y card. The card works fine in original box.

I've read/followed the sticky on this several times with no luck. I'm almost certain the problem is the .cfg file, as CCcam is running and active, and I can access the menu.

When I insert the card (chip down) it says unknown or no card installed on the Cam menu. (I'm assuming it doesn't know what to do with it)

The .cfg was configured and saved exactly to the letter according to the sticky and I ftpd the .cfg to the box /etc and I can see it's in there.

I'm sorry, I'm a complete noob to this.

    Thanks for your help.

'unknown or no card installed' has nothing to do with any config file. Apparently it simply doesn't read the card.
Did you try the other cardreader?

Yes, I have tried both slots.

Is there a minimum amount of time to wait after the card is inserted?

A 100% blank .cfg file should work for this, correct?

My card details show up within a few seconds after inserting the card.

You need more than a blank CCcam.cfg. This thread may help http://www.world-of-satellite.com/sh...2-0-by-dymebox

Sorry, that's not correct. CCcam is fully operational for a local card with an empty config file.

Ahh, yes, that's correct indeed, for descrambling Sly a config is needed.
But the CCCam itself will fully work and will read the card details. But apparently it doesn't for OP, so no idea what's wrong then (apart from a card being upside down or a bricked card).

I don't think the card is bricked, it works in the original box. I've tried it both ways in both slots.

Do I need a specific cccam.ipk file for VIX images?

I've also configured the .cfg according to the dymebox thread multiple times with the same result. CCcam basically doesn't recognize there is even a card in the slot.

    Thanks for your help.

    Softcam guide http://www.world-of-satellite.com/sh...000-ET5000-ViX

    Card chip is face down.

Make sure you have started the softcam.

If its not being read then theres something wrong with your config. I very much doubt that the card reader is at fault.

Even an empty config file will allow CCcam to start and to be fully functional: it should read the card then. If the card is not being read, there's defo something wrong with either the card or the cardreader.

Thanks for all of the replies.

Maybe I'm being a complete dumba$$, does an "empty" CCcam.cfg file contain any characters or text other than the boxkey and smartcard frequency info as in the dymebox thread? I'm not interested in doing anything except reading my own official/valid card. I've Googled the heck out of this, and can't seem to find any info without all the CS BS.

    Thanks

For just reading the card (entitlements) a complete empty configfile is sufficient (because that makes running CCcam possible).
For descrambling Sly-channels it is not, as Sicilian pointed out.

Yes it is active. I've also restarted it several times.

If I install a completely blank, (absolutely nothing) CCcam.cfg file to /etc, should my card be recognized/read?

    Thanks.
