    ET5000 1080p output possible?

Since ET6000 is out and supports 1080p output, I wonder if this is also possible for ET5000? It seems the specs are very similar, only bigger RAM? So is it possible to add this in the next image?

Or are we left in the cold?

No thats not correct sorry the et5000/9000 have exactly the same video hardware and are both capable of outputting 1080p that is if your talking about streaming MKv's with the help of the autoresolution plugin the 5000 will playback MKV's, Xvids or what ever as long as they are encoded to 1080p no problem at all.

The 1080p spec on the Xtrends refers to media playback only using autoresolution plugin.

And my 1080p24 testfile plays fine on the ET5000 and indeed outputs it that way (using the autoreolution plugin).

Just an update for the OP i tried the autoresolution plugin with watching a 1920x1080i source ITV1HD to be correct and changed the resolution to 1080p and yes it does natively output normal satellite channels at what ever resolution you want. So yes it does the same as the ET6000 and outputs at 1080p

    Regards

That depends on the source and on the TV.
If the source is NOT 1080P30 you will never get a smooth picture (as in between frames have to be "invented"). And not all TV can handle 1080p30 correct.

if sly still stream in the same way as they did a couple years ago, then the stream is PAFF encoded.
1080i/50 normally, but since its PAFF encoded (contains progressive frames), it can be de-interlaced to 1080p/25

i'll have to check a new stream. but if box makers could implement this into there boxes you could get the 1080p out of sly.

this happens by default when u watch sly thru a hdtv-pc card and dvbviewer.

What is the purpose of letting the box convert 1080i to 1080p?
Best is to set the box to output 1080i.
Only for playback of e.g. 1080pX contents, you could set Autoreolution to 1080pX

My point exactly but the OP asked if the ET5000 supported 1080p the same as the ET6000 and as we all know now it does, I personally cannot see the point of upscaling to 1080p when the source is 1080 anyway but interlaced but it appears to be a new marketing gimmick from sat receiver makers.

But I think only in relation to playback of sources in that resolution.
Al least I never have seen upscaling to 1080p being advertised.
