BBC’s “Strictly Come Dancing” in 3D

In what is being seen as a major boost to pre-Christmas buyers of 3D sets, the BBC has confirmed that the final of Strictly Come Dancing will be shown in 3D to terrestrial and satellite viewers.

The Dec 17th final, broadcast live from Blackpool’s iconic Tower Ballroom, will be transmitted in 3D on the BBC’s HD channel, while high-definition signals will go out on the BBC One HD channel.

Additionally, special ‘Strictly’ evenings are being held at about a dozen Odeon and Apollo cinemas, again showing the event in 3D.

The BBC will use at least six 3D cameras although experiments currently taking place could boost this final number.
