Asus has exclusively confirmed to Pocket-lint that the Asus Eee Pad Transformer will be getting Ice Cream Sandwich.

"Transformer will be getting update to ICS - but we can’t provide a schedule at this stage," our man at Asus told us.

The news is likely to be welcomed by Asus Eee Pad Transformer users looking to get the latest features from the new mobile operating system from Google.

Google's head of Mobile, Andy Rubin, has said that the Ice Cream Sandwich update would be rolling out a couple of weeks after the Samsung Galaxy Nexus goes on sale. And, while a date hasn't been confirmed, that is said to be the start of November.

Asus has also confirmed that its next generation tablet, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2, teased in a YouTube video on Wednesday, would also be getting the new Google OS.

The news means that Asus is the first to confirm that the OS will be used on tablets.
