Orange to Launch 3D Magazine Show

France Telecom will soon be launching a stereoscopic magazine format show called Mag3D – covering new technology, film releases, sports events, documentaries, video games, "the making of", shows, exhibitions, music, concerts and the latest in High-Tech.

The format sounds familiar to the 3D magazine show – In the Qube, which has been airing on 3net in America since April this year.

The 26 minute programme will debut on November 28th on Orange TV’s channel 30 which is available to all Orange high-speed broadband customers who have High Definition TV (fibre optics, ADSL or satellite). Of course, a 3D TV will be required.

Mag3D will also be made available on the Dailymotion website after the French IPTV provider purchased a 49% stake in the hugely popular European video sharing website (Orange will launch a user generated 3D channel on Dailymotion in 2012).
The show will be produced by Troisième Œil Productions and supported by a website where content will be archived for catch-up viewing.

Orange has been highly involved in the 3D space ever since broadcasting live 3D coverage of the Roland-Garros French International Tennis Open in 2008. Ghislaine Le Rhun Gautier, head of Orange's 3D project, is planning to engage subscribers with a multi-platform service, working towards stereoscopic content being made available on smartphones, laptops, tablets and television in time for the 2012 Olympics saying “We could envisage the 2012 Olympics being viewed on mobile devices connected to our service.”

Orange continues to expand its 3D library focussing on sports and movies. Mag3D will be the first bespoke 3D programme to join the IPTV service provider’s 3D line up.
