    picture quality

    Not sure if its something am doing wrong but just been watching Viasat Xtra PL and the picture quality is terrible where as if I plug my blade 7000hd in the picture is great

    Is the signal strenght good?
    If it is then go to menu av settings and check if your xtrend is set to hdmi etc.

    Since this is all digital, then signal shouldn't matter. You'll either get a good signal, or blocky/pixellated pictures. I guess the OP is saying that it looks poor quality picture image, rather than pixellated?!

    How r u connecting box to tv OP? Are all other channels looking good?

    hdmi lead, am at the moment trying to get it off full screen and to letter box mode [i think]to see if that sorts it
    When i run it threw my blade bx on the same channel the picture is so much better

    My blade box as a border at the top and bottom of the screen that helps improve the screen but i cant get that on my et5000

    Menu -> Setup -> System -> Display

    In there, there should be an option for pan, just scale etc. Can't remember exact name for setting, but this stretches the display to look awful

    I can get it to go in to letterbox sode so it as the borders at the top and bottom of the screen

    Sorry on my blade box the picture quality looks so much better but am not sure if its because of the letterbox mode were it as a border on the top and bottom of the screen but my et5000 is full screen and the picture quality looks horrible specially on the none HD channels

    how are you connecting to the TV, HDMI or scart?

    are you using the same sat channel for your comparrisons??

    ye say today I was watching a game on viasat xtra pl on my et5000 full screen but the picture quality looked bad but on my blade letterbox mode the picture was so much better

    well to get letterbox mode on the 5000, is easy, go to setup, system/av settings/display 4.3 content as pillabox + display 16.9 content as letter box

    also OSD visibilty can be adjusted to suit ( over scan )
