Depends if you want a Linux or non linux receiver. Linux receivers are more customisable and normally have far better EPG and recording options. The BM7000s is a really good receiver for the money, but also consider the Xtrend ET5000 @ £219 and VU+ Solo £229.

Take a read here and you'll see what to expect from the ET5000 with the ViX Team image flashed to it http://www.world-of-satellite.com/sh...100-21-07-2011

The Xtrend ET5000 1080i and VU+ Solo 1080i, both have 3D support, they dont need to be 1080p for 3D. Tbh comes down to budget and weither you would like the extra functionality a Linux receiver offers.

    As Sic said tbh...

As far as I know, no 1080p channels are being transmitted at the moment, so a full 1080p receiver isn't required at the moment. However, that being said, there might be some in the future. But 3d channels all work fine on et5k & solo...

Personally, I would go for the linux box, but for some, they prefer the ease of use that the bm7000 would offer (saying that, I've seen many a newby setup a linux box quite easily nowadays)...

Both have their pro's and con's.

The Xtrend ET5000 is has higher spec'd CPU and slightly better SD picture quality but does not have any scart sockets or CI slots, but has other video out options. Also has better media player.

The VU+ Solo has scart sockets and CI slots, but has marginally slower performance compared to the ET5000 also the SD picuture quality is not as good as the ET5000.

I have the ET5K and box for the price, you won't go wrong with that. If you can stretch the budget slightly, than the UNO is a top notch box for the money.

Which ever box you go for don't forget to check out the forum sponsor.

The Uno is made by the same firm as the SOLO and DUO, it was released last month.
    Heres the link to it.
